Chip Yates, Ikuoa Honawa, and Chad Hord took their electric vehicles to Pikes Peak for the annual hill climb.
Chip entered his motorcycle in the Exibition Powersport class, and made it to the top of the hill in 12:50.094. To put that in perspective, the motorcycle course record was set this year by Carlin Dunne with a time of 11:11.329 on his Ducati Multistrada 1200. Chip's time would have given him 5th place in the 1205 division, and 6th place in the 750 division. See the press release here.
Ikuoa Honawa won the electric car division with a time of 12:20.084 in his EV Challange Team Yokohama Pikes Peak Racer. See thepress release here.
Chad Hord drove his near stock Nissan Leaf to the top of the hill in just 14:33.429. That is a new record for a production electric vehicle.
