Pre Season
Formula E teams and drivers completed an event simulation. Teams tried to find an optimal setting for the race, and an optimal setting for qualifying. The two will place very different demands on the electric drive train. Drivers practiced the 1 minute car change which entails backing the car into the garage, getting unharnessed, hoping into the second car, getting buckled in, and driving back onto the race track.
July 10, 2014 - Sebastien Buemi sets the fastest lap time in three of the first four days of testing. Only 2.7 seconds separates the top 18...continue
Formula E 101. - updated July 5, 2014
Summary
- First race will be in September 13th, 2014.
- There will be 10 teams and 20 drivers.
- There will be races in 10 cities throughout the world: London, Long Beach, Miami, Beijing, Putrajaya, Buenos Aires, Monte Carlo, Berlin, Punta Del Este and one city yet to be named. Rio de Janeiro and Rome were originally scheduled, but have been removed. The first racing season will start in Septmeber of 2014 and end in June of 2015.
- The races will be held on the city streets.
- Each driver will have two cars, and will change cars at least once during the race. To ensure safety, pitstops are required to be a minimum of 30 seconds.
- The series will use the regular FIA points system: 1st = 25pts, 2nd = 18pts, 3 = 15pts, 4th = 12pts, 5th = 10pts, 6th = 8pts, 7th = 6pts, 8th = 4pts, 9th = 2pts and 10th = 1pt. Three points will be awarded to the driver securing pole position whilst the driver setting the fastest lap receives two points.
- There will be nine official test days. Five pre-season, two in-season, and two post-season.
- The championship is experimenting with FanBoost. FanBoost allows fans to vote for a driver to get an extra speed boost. Voting ends before the race begins. The top three drivers in the voting will get a 2.5 second increase in power(an increase from 180bhp to 270bhp)
