Additional support times two for the MUENCH Racing team: With Windreich AG, former sponsor of Moto2-Worldchampion Stefan Brandl, the team was able to win yet another important partner from renewable energy industry. Windreich is not only a sponsor but will be present at the racetrack as well to experience Germany’s fastest drivers and their talent. Secondly, with their new team driver Katja Poensgen, MUENCH acquired another respected driver.

The new MUENCH sponsor operates in the regenerative industry branch and perfectly fits into the picture of an emission free racing sport. Windreich’s most increasing sector is the offshore business in the German North Sea.  The market leader is characterised by taking care of everything that deals with off shore wind energy, the planning, the actual building, as well as the funding and disposition. By sponsoring MUENCH, Windreich consequently expands its e-mobility activities and will demonstrate the entire process of e-mobility at the racetracks this upcoming season when they present their self-made and mobile wind charging point.

“Amongst other things and thanks to our new found cooperation with WIndreich, we were able to integrate Katja Poensgen into the team,” said MUENCH Manager Thomas Petsch. Katja Poensgen already tested the e-bike that Matthias Himmelmann later on raced to win the World Championship in 2011. Now she finally comes back to MUENCH to pursue her passion: the motorbike racing sport. “When I tested the MUENCH TTE for Polo Motorbike Magazine in Schleiz in 2011 I was really excited.  I am all the more thrilled now that I actually get to race next to Matthias Himmelmann in the FIM and TTXGP racing series,” stated Katja Poensgen.

Katja Poensgen drew attention to herself when she won the Supermono Europa Cups in 1998 and Daytona Grand Prix Single Championship Cup in 1999.  In 2000 she placed 6th in the 750cc Superstock European Championship individual rankings, set two lap records and achieved the fastest lap times in three races. In 2001 she was the first woman to ever earn points in the FIM 250cc World Championship. Last but not least she presented the TV Show BIKE, a SPORT 1 – Polo Motorbike Magazine, and functioned as a representative for X-Lite helmets, the German Safety Tour and Polo Motorbike Magazine.
