FIA February 7, 2014 press release:
Sir Frank Williams addresses FIA Formula E teams
Oxfordshire|07 Feb 14
Sir Frank Williams, Founder and Team Principal of the Williams F1 Formula One Team, took time out of his busy schedule recently to welcome all 10 Formula E teams during a special workshop held at the team’s Grove-based headquarters.
Speaking alongside Formula E CEO Alejandro Agag, Sir Frank Williams addressed the 10 Team Principals, including four-time F1 World Champion Alain Prost from e.dams, and praised their efforts and commitment to the new FIA Formula E Championship.
The speech kicked-off a two-day event for all the teams to get better acquainted with the new electric series and the Spark-Renault SRT_01E Formula E cars they will all be using for the first season, which begins in Beijing in September.
Speaking afterwards Alejandro Agag said: “The event was a great success and it was a real honour for everyone to have Sir Frank Williams there and to speak so positively about the championship.”
Williams Advanced Engineering are one of several leading motorsport companies involved in the development of the fully-electric SRT_01E single-seater, designing the 200kw (270bhp) lithium-ion batteries. McLaren, Dallara, Renault and Michelin have also contributed heavily to the car being built by the French-based Spark Racing Technologies.
